Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Responsibilities:

Consistently remain competent in:

· How to hook and un-hook patient leads for both EKG and EEG.

· Maintain knowledge on how to provide non-invasive EEG testing and continuous monitoring for Neurology/Epilepsy patients in the EMU.

· Provide accurate and high quality EEG and EKG studies for patient diagnosis and treatment.

· Maintain the skills required to properly use and clean the electrodes by following manufactures recommendations and policies/procedures of Skyline Medical Center and the EEG/EKG department.

· Remain competent in production, use recognition, and analysis of images and patterns used for patient diagnosis/treatment and relay all clinical history and related diagnostic procedures to provide the highest quality of patient care.

Technologist must:

· Contact the physician with any updates regarding active events or questionable areas on an EEG/EKG.

· Be the primary liaison between patients, physicians and other members of the support team regarding patient care.

Responsibilities also include :

· Developing and maintaining good working relationships both inter-and intra-departmentally; to foster good customer relations and to observe the Skyline Medical Center mission statement.

· Ability to use professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing their duties.

· Obtaining continuing education for optimal patient care, public education and enhanced knowledge and technical competence.

Qualifications:

· Graduation from high school.

· 2 years of applicable job experience - preferred.

· American Heart Association BLS certification required.

· Registry/Certification in EKG and EEG must be obtained within 12 months of hire date
